The fee for the Food and Beverage Handler Card is $20.00 and the card is valid for one year from the date of issue and renewal required annually. Valid identification must be presented at the time of application for the card. Only state issued driver's licenses, military I.D. cards, passports or state issued non-driver's picture I.D. cards will be considered valid. The Beverage Handler Card will only be valid when signed by the person identified. The card must be signed and kept on the person to whom it is issued, at all times. The person in charge must keep a copy of each employee's card on the premises.
Anyone possessing a valid Food Handler card who wishes to upgrade to the Beverage Handler card before their Food Handler card expires may do so by attending only the Beverage Handler portion of the class and paying a $7.00 fee. The Food and Beverage card will expire on the original date of expiration for the Food Handler card.
The Food and Beverage Handler card does not take the place of the Responsible Vendor program offered by the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.

Please note, cash, credit & debit cards are the only acceptable forms of payment. All class participants must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the class time to complete all paperwork. No one is admitted after the film starts. Parents are encouraged to make arrangements for childcare. Children and visitors will not be allowed in the classrooms.
Food Handler Course
Any food establishment employee that serves or prepares unpackaged foods or whose job duties require being in food preparation, service, storage or ware washing areas is required to obtain a food handler card every year from the Mobile County Health Department.
The food handler classes are offered at 8:45 am, 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Building 6 at 251 N. Bayou Street in downtown Mobile. The class is $15.00.
Food & Beverage Course
Classes are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Building 6 at 251 N. Bayou St. Registration begins when doors open at 7:30 am. Classes begins promptly at 8:00 am and ends at 9:45 am. Participants must be at least 19 years old and present valid identification at the time of application. Accepted forms of identification are driver license, military I.D. card, passport, and state issued picture I.D. card. The fee for a food and beverage handler card is $20.00. The card holder must have it on his or her person while at work, and an establishment owner must have a copy of an employee's card on the premises at all times.
