Are you ready for COVID-19 season?

MOBILE, Ala. — Are you ready to protect yourself and those around you? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), public health professionals, and the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) remind everyone that fall is the time to check your COVID-19 vaccination status and talk with your healthcare provider about staying up to date.

The CDC now recommends that vaccination decisions for individuals 6 months and older be made through shared decision-making with a healthcare professional. For adults age 65 and older and those with underlying health conditions, the benefit of COVID-19 vaccination remains especially strong in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

COVID-19 vaccines are available across Mobile County at major pharmacies, clinics, and healthcare offices.

“Even though COVID-19 is no longer classified as a public health emergency, it continues to cause hundreds of hospital admissions and deaths each year in Mobile County,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “Vaccination remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself and your community.”

Be ready. Stay protected.

Small steps still make a big difference — wash your hands often, cover coughs and sneezes, disinfect shared items, and stay home if you’re sick.

COVID-19 continues to circulate each fall and winter, often alongside flu and RSV. Protecting yourself with timely vaccination helps prevent serious disease and keeps the people you care about safer.

This season, ask yourself: Are you ready?

Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your COVID-19 vaccine today. Together, through awareness and action, we can help build a healthier, stronger Mobile County.
