COVID-19 Response Team takes part in festival
MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department’s COVID-19 Response Team is taking part in numerous outreach events to provide vaccines to the community. One such outing was Saturday during the Spirit of Our Ancestors Festival at the Mobile County Training School in Mobile.
The event was sponsored by The Clotilda Descendants Association. Also present was author Ben Raines, who was there to discuss his new book titled “The Last Slave Ship.”
Simon & Schuster, the book’s publisher, describes it as “The incredible true story of the last ship to carry enslaved people to America, the remarkable town its survivors founded after emancipation, and the complicated legacy their descendants carry with them to this day — by the journalist who discovered the ship’s remains.”
Raines is shown here at the Mobile County Training School with two of MCHD’s vaccinators – Phyllis Hosey and Adrienne Irvin.
