MAWSS reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow caused by third party

MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) responded to a Sanitary Sewer Overflow caused by a third party on August 3 at 3910 Trumbull Court.

Quick response by MAWSS crews enabled them to contain the approximately 1,800 gallons of wastewater that overflowed as a result of a break in a force main. The overflow did not reach a body of water. MAWSS crews have repaired the break in the line.

Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, Health Officer for Mobile County, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow. Those who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
