MAWSS reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow caused by third party
MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) has responded to a Sanitary Sewer Overflow on private property caused by a third party. Approximately 500 gallons of wastewater has overflowed since January 17 at 1417 Azalea Road (Buildings 6 & 7) because of a break on a sewer lateral.
The wastewater is ponding on the property. No body of water has been impacted. The property manager has been notified to correct the issue.
Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, Health Officer for Mobile County, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow. Those who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
