MAWSS reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow caused by third party
MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile Area Water & Sewer System (MAWSS) responded to a Sanitary Sewer Overflow caused by a third party on July 14 at 4820 Schillinger Road South. Quick response by MAWSS crews enabled them to contain the approximately 2,125 gallons of wastewater that overflowed as a result of a contractor break.
All the wastewater was contained and did not reach state waters. MAWSS crews are taking steps to prevent further overflows at this location.
Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, Health Officer for Mobile County, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow. Those who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
