MCHD encourages families to enroll in Healthy Start Enhanced Program

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department is encouraging pregnant women and families with children 18 months old and younger to enroll in the Healthy Start Enhanced Program, a free program designed to provide support, education, and valuable resources to help families thrive.

The Healthy Start Enhanced Program connects parents with trained Parent Educators who provide one-on-one support, parenting guidance, and access to community resources throughout pregnancy and early childhood.

“Our goal is to ensure every parent has access to the support and resources they need for a healthy start,” said Danielle Simpson, Program Administrator. “We want families to know they are not alone, and our team is here to help every step of the way.”

“This initiative is truly focused on supporting families, it’s not based on income, or insurance status,” said Pebbles King, Bureau Director. “That’s the uniqueness of this program.”

Program participants receive a variety of supportive services, including:

  • Personal home visits with individualized parenting support
  • Monthly parent meetups featuring food, guest speakers, and opportunities to connect with other families
  • Baby Bucks incentives that can be redeemed for diapers, wipes, clothing, car seats, and other essential baby items through the on-site baby store
  • Fatherhood support services that provide resources and community connections specifically for fathers
  • Guidance and educational support from trained Parent Educators focused on child growth, development, and family wellness

The Healthy Start Enhanced Program supports mothers, children, and families before, during, and after pregnancy.
