MCHD encourages residents to get outdoors and get moving this spring

MOBILE, Ala. — With what is hopefully the last cold snap now behind us, the Mobile County Health Department is encouraging residents to take advantage of warmer weather and renewed energy to get outside and be active.

Spring is a great time to focus on movement and wellness. Exercise does not have to mean going to a gym — it can include yardwork, walking, gardening, biking, and simply enjoying the outdoors with family and friends.

Across Mobile County, residents have access to many parks, walking paths, and trails that offer opportunities to be active while enjoying the natural beauty of our community. Spending time outdoors can support both physical and mental well-being and help people build healthy habits that last throughout the year.

“After colder weather, spring often gives people a fresh sense of motivation to move more and spend time outside,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “Whether it is a walk in the neighborhood, work in the yard, or a visit to a local park, every bit of activity can make a difference.”

Regular physical activity can help improve overall health, increase energy, reduce stress, and support a healthier lifestyle. The Mobile County Health Department encourages residents of all ages to find simple, enjoyable ways to stay active this season.
