MCHD promotes CredibleMind, a free mental health self-care platform
MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department is encouraging residents to take advantage of a free, statewide mental well-being resource designed to make confidential self-care more accessible to everyone in Alabama. In partnership with the Alabama Department of Mental Health, Jefferson County Department of Health, and the Mobile County Health Department, the mental well-being platform CredibleMind has been available at no charge to Alabama residents since its launch in May 2025.
CredibleMind empowers individuals to address mental health and wellness concerns through a confidential, personalized, and anonymous online platform. It offers immediate access to evidence-informed self-care tools, educational materials, and resources that can help people manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges on their own schedule and in the privacy of their home.
Since launch, Mobile County has shared numerous messages across multiple digital media platforms and through news releases to raise awareness of CredibleMind and encourage residents to explore its services. Statewide, the platform receives approximately 2,000 visits each month, with the highest registered users coming from Jefferson, Mobile, Baldwin, Madison, and Montgomery counties. These early numbers suggest that residents are seeking and using convenient, stigma-free options to support their mental well-being.
“CredibleMind is another way we are working to meet people where they are and give them tools to care for their mental health before a crisis occurs,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “By providing free, confidential access to trusted information and self-care resources, we can help reduce barriers and support the overall health of our community.”
Residents are encouraged to visit https://alabama.crediblemind.com/ for a wealth of information in expert-rated and vetted videos, podcasts, apps, books, and articles all in one place.
Anyone experiencing persistent sadness, anxiety, hopelessness, mood changes, or difficulty coping during or after a life event should speak with a health care provider. If someone is in emotional distress or needs immediate mental health support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
