MCHD smartphone app surpasses 6,000 downloads
MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) and its primary care division, Family Health, are celebrating a new milestone as the “My MCHD Health Check” smartphone app has now been downloaded more than 6,000 times, connecting thousands of Mobile County residents and visitors to real-time public health information and services.
Launched in 2022, the app was created to make it easier for the community to stay informed about local health issues, access clinic services, and find trusted resources in one convenient place on their phone.
“Our community depends on timely information about health services, outbreaks, and resources, and this app helps us put those tools directly into people’s hands,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “Passing 6,000 downloads shows that Mobile County residents want fast, reliable updates about the health of our community.”
Through My MCHD Health Check, users can access:
- Vital Records information and links.
- News and events, including health alerts and campaigns.
- Healthy living resources, such as nutrition, blood pressure tools, and wellness information.
- Family Health medical services, including primary care, diagnostics, family planning, and more.
- Restaurant inspection ratings and food safety information.
- Community health tools such as food inspection scores, overdose prevention resources, mosquito and rodent control, and other local programs (where available in the app menus).
The app also offers quick access to patient portal information, giving many users a convenient way to review medical records and connect with their care team after hours. Recent updates have improved accessibility features to align with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, with clearer headings, simplified navigation, and more consistent layouts to help all users find what they need more easily.
MCHD encourages all Mobile County residents to download the app and turn on notifications to receive timely updates on health advisories, severe weather alerts, and local public health services.
