MCHD strengthens Prevention and Community Education efforts

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) is expanding Prevention and Community Education efforts to address opioid and other substance use, while increasing awareness about the dangers of tobacco and vaping.

“At MCHD, we know these issues affect families, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods across Mobile County,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “That is why we are strengthening practical, evidence-based strategies that reduce risk, prevent overdose, support healthier choices, and connect residents to the services they need.”

Through community outreach, trusted partnerships, Prevention and Wellness Kiosks, and access to CredibleMind resources, MCHD is making reliable information and support easier to reach. These efforts help residents better understand the risks of substance use, tobacco, and vaping while promoting healthier decisions and stronger pathways to care and recovery. At MCHD, we believe public health must meet people where they are. We remain committed to giving our community the tools, information, and support needed to build a healthier Mobile County.
