MCHD’s Vector Services deals with mosquitoes across Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department’s (MCHD) Vector Control Division will conduct mosquito-reduction spraying in targeted areas throughout the county this weekend as part of our ongoing public health efforts. Treatment decisions are based on a comprehensive surveillance process.

“Our team uses data collected from mosquito traps, laboratory testing, public service requests and complaints, and direct field observations by trained inspectors,” said Dr. Derrick Scott, Bureau Director of Environmental Health said. “This data-driven approach allows us to identify areas with elevated mosquito activity and determine the most appropriate and effective treatment methods.

“The Mobile County Health Department remains committed to protecting the community from mosquito-borne diseases and improving the quality of life through effective vector control strategies. Public cooperation and awareness are essential to the success of these efforts.”

Applications are conducted by trained professionals using EPA-approved products and equipment. When used as directed on the label, these treatments are designed to reduce adult mosquito populations while posing minimal risk to people, pets, and the environment.
