Mobile County Health Department hosts “Teatime with TB” for World TB Day
MOBILE, Ala. — In recognition of World TB Day, the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) hosted its annual awareness event called “Teatime with TB.” It brought together staff and community members to educate, engage, and inspire action toward ending tuberculosis (TB).
Observed each year on March 24, World TB Day highlights the global effort to eliminate TB and raises awareness about the impact of this preventable and curable disease. This year’s theme, “Yes! We Can End TB!”, emphasizes the power of collective action in reducing TB cases and saving lives.
MCHD staff gathered at the Newburn Public Health Clinic dressed in red to show solidarity in the fight against TB. The “Teatime with TB” event created a welcoming environment for meaningful conversations, providing educational materials, resources, and open dialogue about TB prevention, testing, and treatment.
“Events like ‘Teatime with TB’ allow us to connect with our staff and community in a more personal way while reinforcing the importance of early detection and treatment,” said a representative from MCHD. “Together, we can break the stigma and work toward a TB-free future.”
Tuberculosis remains a public health concern, but with continued awareness, routine screening, and proper treatment, it is both preventable and curable. MCHD encourages residents to learn the symptoms of TB, seek testing if needed, and support ongoing public health efforts.
