National Health Center Week to be celebrated August 2-8
MOBILE, Ala. — Family Health is observing National Health Center Week (NHCW) with special activities. The weeklong campaign is set for August 2 to 8. The purpose of this celebration is to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past 60 years. Family Health will highlight the impact of health centers on the nation’s health, their continued dedication to innovation, and their vision for an even healthier future.
The theme for this year’s NHCW is “Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most.” Family Health has planned special events during NHCW to coordinate with the nation-wide “focus days.” Each day of the week focuses on a unique aspect of the vital role Family Health plays as an Employer of Choice, Provider of Choice, and Partner of Choice.
- On Sunday, August 2nd, Celebrating Our History – Family Health will kick off with a look at the incredible innovation Community Health Centers provide to their communities. From serving a handful of communities to now reaching 1 in 7 Americans, Community Health Centers have become a cornerstone of community health.
- On Monday, August 3rd, Staff Appreciation Day – Community Health Centers thrive because of their dedicated team members. This day honors all employees and their contributions to patient care and organizational success.
- On Tuesday, August 4th, Patient Appreciation Day – Family Health will display “Thank You” banners at each Family Health location to convey our appreciation to our wonderful patients. Patients are at the heart of health centers, and this day recognizes their role in shaping care delivery.
- On Wednesday, August 5th, Health Conditions Focus Day – Community Health Centers play a critical role in addressing acute and chronic conditions through prevention, early detection, and treatment. Family Health will use this day to highlight patient education tools, like the MCHD/FH smartphone app, which provides users with information on nutrition, cancer screenings, heart health, diabetes care, and managing chronic infectious diseases.
- On Thursday, August 6th, Population Focus Day – Community Health Centers serve patients of all race and ethnicities, in rural, urban, suburban, and frontier communities. On this day, Family Health will celebrate its commitment to understanding the unique needs of their patients and communities, and providing quality, accessible care.
- On Friday, August 7th, Partner Appreciation Day – Family Health will celebrate its consumer board — a model of governance where patients make up 51 percent of the governing board. Family Health will celebrate its board and their contributions to the Community Health Center movement.
- On Saturday, August 8th, Gratitude and Future Vision Day – Family Health will close the week with a focus on gratitude for all who contribute to the Community Health Center mission and vision for the future. Together, we aim to serve 1 in 3 Americans, ensuring health for all.
Four Community Health Centers serve Mobile County residents: Accordia Health, Family Health, Franklin Primary Health Center, and Mostellar Medical Center. They continue to prove as an effective means of overcoming barriers to healthcare access, including geography, income, and insurance status — improving health outcomes and reducing costs.
