Prichard reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow

MOBILE, Ala. — Prichard Water Works & Sewer experienced a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) on June 15. This occurred because of an electrical issue that has been repaired.

The overflow was at the intersection of Martha Avenue and Old Citronelle Highway. The volume lost was 200 gallons, which did not reach a body of water. The area has been cleaned and disinfected.

Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, Health Officer for Mobile County, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow. Those who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
