Prichard reports Sanitary Sewer Overflow

MOBILE, Ala. — Prichard Water Works & Sewer has reported on a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) that occurred today. The cause was a broken 1-inch line that helps to prime the pumps.

The SSO occurred at one of Prichard’s lift stations located next door to 4418 Winchester Road. The volume lost was estimated to be less than 1,000 gallons.

The overflow was ground absorbed. The area has been cleaned and disinfected.

Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, Health Officer for Mobile County, advises area residents to take precautions when coming into contact with any standing water that may have accumulated as a result of this overflow. Those who have come into direct contact with untreated sewage are advised to wash their hands and clothing thoroughly.
