Public Health Response Unit 2 now open at Keeler Memorial Building
MOBILE, Ala. — The COVID-19 Response Team with the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) is expanding its services. Public Health Response Unit 2 is now available to provide rapid COVID-19 testing and vaccinations at the Keeler Memorial Building’s parking lot (251 North Bayou Street in Mobile). The Jynneos vaccine for Monkeypox is also available at the location.
This trailer is identical to Public Health Response Unit 1, which is based on the campus of the Semmes Health Center (3810 Wulff Road East). These are 2022 ATC Quest Custom Medical Trailers. They were secured with the Centers of Disease Control & Prevention’s Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) funds that were passed through the Alabama Department of Public Health to MCHD.
The mobile medical trailers will help MCHD obtain one of its primary goals: encouraging health interventions by providing collaborative and informative education to the community. Disease prevention, community resource services, health promotion, and health education are many of the services provided by MCHD’s Prevention & Wellness directorate.
The COVID-19 Response Team will also continue to provide walk-in vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax) and rapid testing at its Festival Centre (3725 Airport Boulevard in Mobile, Suite 101-A) site and at the Southwest Public Health Center (5580 Inn Road in Tillman’s Corner).
These in-clinic services from the COVID-19 Response Team are available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. While no appointment is required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, individual appointments must be made for rapid testing online at this link — https://appointments.mchd.org.
Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are also available at many pharmacies and food stores across the community as well as by appointment at the following Family Health locations – Keeler Memorial Building, Semmes Health Center, Eight Mile Health Center (4009 Saint Stephens Road), Southwest Mobile Health Center (5580 Inn Road in Tillman’s Corner) and Dauphin Island Parkway Health Center (2601 Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile). Appointments may be made by calling 251-690-8889.
The latest information on COVID-19 vaccinations and testing can be found at www.MCHDcares.com or by calling 251-410-MCHD (6243).
