Vital Records services to be interrupted

MOBILE, Ala. — The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Center for Health Statistics (CHS) has announced that its offices in Montgomery’s RSA Tower will be undergoing a major refurbishment over the next weeks. Because of this, the CHS team will need to temporarily relocate to another floor while its area is being worked on.

This will require all computers, equipment, and records to be packed and moved. This will require CHS to shut down at 3:30 p.m. on the following Wednesdays: November 5, November 12, and November 19.

The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) offers Vital Records services from its main headquarters at 251 North Bayou Street in Mobile. MCHD staff can submit requests during these previously mentioned times, but results will most likely not be processed until the next business day.

The Vital Records mission is to help customers in Mobile County to obtain vital records from the CHS through an automated system called ViSION (Vital Statistics Image Oriented Network). The ViSION System enables the processing of applications from any county in the state of Alabama, providing fast and accurate service in processing all vital records.

The department issues Birth, Death, Marriage, and Divorce certificates. They also issue Autism Cards, for which a health provider must verify the autism disorder spectrum.
