White House official to review Mobile County vaccination efforts
MOBILE, Ala. — Dr. Cameron Webb, Senior Policy Advisor for COVID-19 Equity on the White House COVID-19 Response Team, will be visiting Mobile County on Thursday.
Back in June, the Biden Administration announced the “Shots at the Shop” initiative. The plan provided funding for barber shops and beauty salons to support local vaccine education and outreach efforts. This included a partnership with the Black Coalition Against COVID, the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity, and Shea Moisture.
Dr. Webb is scheduled to stop by a COVID-19 outreach event at Cutt Zone Barbershop (2663 Spring Hill Avenue in Mobile) between noon and 2 p.m. The Mobile County Health Department’s COVID-19 Response Team will be participating. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available.
In his current role with the Biden Administration, Dr. Webb helps to shape national discourse and management of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this post, he was a physician who treated patients with the University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center’s COVID-19 unit.
Dr. Webb was also the director of Health Policy and Equity at UVA’s School of Medicine. With a law degree from Loyola University in Chicago, he helped to establish the Health Equity, Law, and Policy Research Laboratory at UVA.
This is his second tour in Washington. He previously worked at the White House in the Obama Administration. There he served on the My Brother’s Keeper task force.
