Wintry weather to affect MCHD operating hours
MOBILE, Ala. — The National Weather Service office in Mobile has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for late Thursday night and Friday morning. As a result, the Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) will alter its hours of operation.
The forecast calls for a wintry mix of freezing rain and ice pellets, with a trend leaning more toward a freezing rain event. Light accumulations are currently expected. Ice-covered roads and bridges may make travel difficult.
As a result, Mobile County Health Officer Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II has announced that MCHD and Family Health – its primary care division – will delay its opening because of the freezing temperatures and rain that might cause icy road conditions.
On Friday, all MCHD and Family Health locations will open at 11 a.m.
MCHD’s COVID-19 Response Team will open its Festival Centre location on Friday at noon.
